Safeguarding
Everyone who comes into contact with voluntary organisations has a right to be safe from harm and abuse. All voluntary organisations need to be aware of and act to meet their duties to keep people safe.
This guide is aimed at leaders in voluntary organisations. Use it to understand safeguarding and how it applies to you. Follow our guidance to plan and implement effective safeguarding in your organisation.
If you currently have a safeguarding concern
If you are worried about someone, always ensure their immediate safety. Take any necessary action to protect them from harm.
- Where you are worried a child or adult is in immediate danger, contact the police.
- If you are worried a child or adult is experiencing or at significant risk of abuse, neglect or exploitation contact your local authority social services department. You can use the postcode finder on gov.uk to find details for your local authority.
